Max Cleworth Transfer from Wrexham to Aston Villa

Recent rumours emerged on social media that Premier League Aston Villa had made a £12million bid to sign Max Cleworth. His omission from the squad fuelled online rumours that Cleworth was transferring to Aston Villa. Manager Phil Parkinson replied that he had not heard that at all and stated that Max is very much part of their plans. Parkinson explained that Cleworth had a problem with his groin and that they had decided to rest him that night, regardless of what happened at Derby. Wrexham CEO Mike Williamson discussed the possibility of the club selling Cleworth in the future. Williamson said they give opportunities to players like Max, who he stated will arrive in the Premier League, either with them or with another club that will show interest at some point. He expressed his hope that it is with them because such players are critical. Williamson explained that he knows their answer to selling Cleworth would be that he is not available and not for sale, and that he knows what Rob and Ryan would say without him having to ask them. However, he said the issue is what Max wants, explaining that in such situations it would probably come down to the player's wishes because Rob and Ryan care about the players as individuals.
