Mamadou Lamine Camara Transfer from RSB Berkane to Al Ahli Tripoli

6d ago

RS Berkane has submitted an official complaint to FIFA concerning Mamadou Lamine Camara, contesting the validity of his transfer to Al Ahli Tripoli. The Moroccan club claims a contract breach, arguing that Camara was still under contract with Berkane until June 2027 and did not follow formal termination procedures. According to sources, the player attended the club's final training session on the night of the transfer window's closure without having submitted any official notification of contract termination. A financial settlement initially appeared to have resolved the matter, but the situation has now escalated into a legal dispute before FIFA. The governing body will decide on the procedural validity of the transfer and potential contractual liabilities. The club also states that Camara's sudden departure harmed the team, particularly because of his absence in a crucial CAF Champions League group stage match.

RS Berkane has decided against taking legal action concerning the transfer of its midfielder Mamadou Lamine Camara to Al Ahli Tripoli, agreeing to a sum of 2.5 million dollars to complete the transfer, according to Africafoot. This amount is about half of the release clause set in the player's contract. This financial agreement was made between the two clubs to prevent a prolonged legal dispute. A disagreement occurred between the clubs because the Moroccan club believed the regulatory procedure to activate the clause was not correctly followed. The Libyan club reportedly provided notice only one hour before the administrative deadline as the Libyan winter registration window was closing, rather than the required 24 hours. A delay in the transfer of funds to the Moroccan club's bank account also temporarily blocked the issuance of the International Transfer Certificate (CIT), as revealed by Africafoot. RS Berkane could have appealed to FIFA to challenge the procedural validity of the transfer, which could have exposed the Libyan club or the player to disciplinary sanctions. However, RS Berkane chose an amicable resolution, validating the transfer based on the financial agreement reached and the player's wishes.

Al Ahli Tripoli nearly signed Mamadou Lamine Camara, a 23-year-old Senegalese defensive midfielder who is contracted to RS Berkane until June 2027. The Libyan club was prepared to activate the player's $5 million release clause and offered a salary estimated at $2 million per season. This attempt followed a rejected offer from Al Ittihad Tripoli for a $2.5 million transfer and a $1.2 million annual salary. Al Ahli Tripoli had reached a principle agreement with Camara and his lawyer to activate the release clause, a step that would have allowed the deal to proceed without extensive negotiations with the Moroccan club. However, the transfer did not proceed due to the closure of the registration period, which prevented the deal's administrative finalization. Legal expert Mohammed Moujtahid noted that information about the matter is contradictory and explained that the central legal question is whether the player formally initiated the activation of the clause. Several scenarios are now being considered, including a potential joint appeal by the player and Al Ahli Tripoli to FIFA for an exceptional registration, the cancellation of the transfer after the failure to obtain the international transfer certificate, or a negotiated solution to protect the interests of all involved parties. Camara, who joined RS Berkane in August 2021, has 6 caps and 1 goal for Senegal. In the current domestic league season, he has made 5 appearances and provided 1 assist. Transfermarkt estimates his market value to be €1.40m.
