Burnley are nearing an agreement for Espanyol's 19-year-old Spanish attacking midfielder, Lluc Castell, in a deal that is expected to be a loan with an option to buy. The permanent part of the transfer will involve a small fee and will also include a buy-back clause for Espanyol. The move for the attacking midfielder is reported to be the first of its kind between the two clubs under their shared ownership, which plans to create a flow of players to develop talent. Castell graduated from Espanyol's academy and made his first-team debut in May. Burnley defender Quilindschy Hartman is also set to join Espanyol. Castell has been capped once by Spain U18 and has a contract with Espanyol until June 30, 2027. During the 2025/2026 season, he scored 11 goals and provided 3 assists in 60 appearances for the club's B-team in the Segunda Federación. Transfermarkt lists his current market value as €200k.
