According to Theo Janssen, 23-year-old Japanese defensive midfielder Kodai Sano will quickly surpass this level. Janssen said Sano could leave PSV after this season for a high transfer fee. Sano only joined PSV in August 2026 and is under contract until 2031. The midfielder has four caps for Japan and his current Transfermarkt market value is €18.00M. During the previous transfer window, he attracted interest from clubs including Ajax and Nottingham Forest.
