However, the interest never materialized into a concrete offer, and PSV-watcher Rik Elfrink from Eindhovens Dagblad reported that Smit, who is under contract with AZ until the summer of 2028, is currently beyond PSV's financial reach. The 19-year-old midfielder, who shared the position of top scorer at the tournament with four goals, is aware of the speculation linking him to prominent clubs such as Real Madrid and Ajax. Despite this, he has reportedly stated his intention to remain at AZ to concentrate on his development.
