Motherwell have signed 22-year-old Australian Under-23 international Jake Girdwood-Reich from Major League Soccer side St Louis City for an undisclosed fee. Girdwood-Reich can operate as a centre-back or a deep-lying midfielder. He arrives at Fir Park after two years as a St Louis player, having spent the previous season on loan at Auckland where he won the A-League championship. Manager Alfred Johansson told the club's official website that Girdwood-Reich is a strong and intelligent player who possesses a blend of experience and raw talent. Girdwood-Reich mentioned that talks had been ongoing and he was impressed by the manager's vision for the team's playing style.
