Everton sanctioned Harrison Armstrong's loan to Preston North End late on the final day of the transfer window, a move made possible by Everton's signing of Merlin Rohl. Sources close to the situation confirmed to TEAMtalk that Everton do not plan to recall Armstrong this season, as they believe completing the season at Deepdale is best for his development. The only reason the club would consider a mid-season recall for Armstrong is if several of their midfielders sustain injuries before January. The plan is for the player to remain with Preston until the end of the current season, at which point Everton will assess his situation next summer. There is a belief within the club that he will be a strong candidate to become a first-team regular in the 2026/27 season.
