Chris Wilder has said he wants to offer 29-year-old defensive midfielder Hamza Choudhury a contract extension. Choudhury, an England and Bangladesh national, signed a one-year deal over the summer, and his contract is set to expire in June 2027. Wilder stated that he knows the character thoroughly and is not waiting two or three months to learn about a player. He said he knows about them and that they start performing well immediately. Wilder also said that the potential is high and they are trying to reach that with everybody. He added that it was a good acquisition for them and that Choudhury is certainly somebody he wants to retain at the club. Sheffield United re-signed Choudhury earlier this year. The club does not want to have him leave on a free transfer when this campaign is over, especially if he went to a league rival. The Bangladesh international has made 13 appearances for the national team, scoring four goals. His current Transfermarkt market value is €4.0M. Before his move to Sheffield United, Derby County and Birmingham City were also linked with the player.
