Gerard Martín Transfer from FC Barcelona to Tottenham Hotspur

2h ago

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Barcelona defender Gerard Martín, and several European clubs are assessing his availability. According to Fussball News, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Liverpool, and Chelsea are also monitoring the 24-year-old. Martín is valued for his versatility at both left-back and centre-back. Neither Tottenham nor Liverpool have submitted a formal offer, but it is understood that Inter Milan has made initial enquiries regarding the player's contract. Barcelona appears determined to retain Martín. His current deal runs until June 2028 and includes a release clause of €100 million. The club is reportedly considering extending his contract until 2030 or 2031, and manager Hansi Flick is said to favour keeping the player. If Barcelona refuses to negotiate, Tottenham may need to look at alternative targets. Martín could, however, remain a potential target for the club in a future transfer window. The Spanish defender has three caps for Spain's U21 team, joined Barcelona in July 2024, and has a current Transfermarkt market value of €40.00m.
