Carlos Vicente Transfer from Deportivo Alavés to Ajax

A deal has been agreed with Deportivo Alaves for Carlos Vicente to join Birmingham City, following competition for the transfer from Ajax.

Ajax inquired about Carlos Vicente and he was on their list, but the club never made an offer. Mike Verweij reports that Ajax was not very enthusiastic about Carlos Vicente, considering him not much better than Edvardsen and worse than Moro.

Ajax were pursuing Carlos Vicente, but a substantial offer from Birmingham City caused him to prefer a move there instead of to Amsterdam. On Monday morning, the Dutch club conceded they would not sign him. The perspective in the Netherlands has since become that the club was not very interested in him.

According to Voetbal International, Ajax was initially seen as the favorite option for Carlos Vicente, who was considered in Amsterdam as the successor to Raul Moro. Ajax seemed to have the best chance of signing Vicente last week, but he ultimately decided to reject the club after Birmingham City made an 'astronomical offer'.

Ajax is closely monitoring the situation of Carlos Vicente. According to Voetbal International, it will be a difficult task for Ajax to sign him. The club has more than a week to complete the transfer, as the Dutch winter transfer window closes on Tuesday, February 3, at 23:59. Gasteiz Hoy confirms that Vicente has concrete interest.

A report from Marca indicates that Ajax are interested in acquiring Carlos Vicente. The report adds that Alaves could allow him to leave for less than 10 million because of a 20-minute clause, and that his future might be decided in the next week.

A potential move for Vicente was complicated by interest from the Dutch club Ajax, who are looking to strengthen following a disappointing season. Journalist Anthony Joseph has revealed that, despite competition from the Dutch club, the wide-man is said to prefer a move to Birmingham City. Ajax are highly unlikely to win the Eredivisie this season.

Ajax have agreed personal terms with Carlos Vicente and are preparing to make an offer to Alavés. According to Voetbal International, the arrival of Carlos Vicente at Ajax is not straightforward, but the Amsterdam club is in a strong position to sign the Spanish winger.

According to VI, an agreement with both Deportivo Alavés and Carlos Vicente was not considered a problem. Ajax appeared to be close to signing Carlos Vicente ahead of Birmingham City.

A media source in the Netherlands, Voetbal International, reports that Ajax are attempting to sign Vicente. According to the source, Ajax wants him as a replacement for Raul Moro, who has transferred to Osasuna, and Jordi Cruyff is personally advocating for the move. Voetbal International further states that Ajax has now become one of the clubs interested in the player, is very serious about the potential signing, and that Vicente can sign a contract with the club for multiple years. Vicente’s current deal expires in June 2027 and his wages will be low.

Ajax has expressed interest in Carlos Vicente and has made inquiries about him at Álaves. Vicente, a 25-year-old Spanish footballer, mainly operates as a right winger but is also capable of playing as a right back. The club regards him as an ideal addition to their squad. Vicente is currently contracted with Álaves until mid-2027, and the club maintains that his release clause is set at twenty million euros. However, Ajax lacks the financial resources to afford such an expense, rendering the transfer unlikely. Instead, the club is expected to fill the winger position with Oliver Edvardsen, while Youri Regeer has been recruited as a temporary right back.
