Charlton Athletic were previously suggested as a potential club to sign Brian De Keersmaecker from Oxford United. Oxford United need to sell players because of an embargo placed on them by the EFL after their relegation. However, Charlton faces competition for the 26-year-old Belgian midfielder, as Championship clubs Blackburn Rovers and QPR are also interested in signing him, alongside several teams from the German Bundesliga and Italian Serie A. De Keersmaecker joined Oxford United in July 2025 and made 26 appearances in the Championship last season, during which he scored two goals and provided five assists. The former Belgium U16 international has a current market value of €2.50m, according to Transfermarkt.
