Bristol City have signed 26-year-old Belgian midfielder Brian De Keersmaecker from Oxford United on a season-long loan that includes an option to buy. De Keersmaecker experienced relegation from the Championship with Oxford in his first season after arriving in English football. His previous campaign was ended prematurely by a shoulder injury in February that required surgery, and he has not been included in Oxford's matchday squads since their return to League One. Bristol City manager Michael Skubala told the club website that the midfielder would bring both quality and depth to the team. De Keersmaecker, who has been capped three times for Belgium's U16 team, scoring one goal, has a current market value of €2.50m, according to Transfermarkt. Several other clubs, including Blackburn Rovers and Queens Park Rangers, had also been linked with the midfielder.
