Second division club Stoke City, which finished 17th in the Championship, has submitted a three million euro offer for Abubakr Barry, a 25-year-old midfielder from The Gambia. This follows a previously rejected bid for the midfielder from Oxford United, who were relegated to League One, for an amount just over two million euros. Barry has also indicated his desire for a more significant career move. The Gambian international, who has 9 caps for his country, joined Austria Vienna in July 2024 and has a contract until June 2027. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt at €2.50m. In February 2026, it was suggested that a fee of approximately €7 million would be considered a major success for the selling club.
