According to Fabrizio Romano, when Barcelona were considering signing a winger, 19-year-old Ivorian Yan Diomande was one of the players they evaluated. Diomande now plays for Real Madrid. Barcelona had scouted Diomande for some time but ultimately deemed him too expensive due to the price demanded by RB Leipzig. The club instead decided to sign Gordon when he became available. Diomande joined Real Madrid in August 2026, and his contract runs until 2033. It was reported that several top European clubs were interested in him before his move. He has 17 caps and 3 goals for the Ivory Coast, and his current Transfermarkt market value is €120.00m.
