It appears that Technical director Erik ten Hag, who previously brought Wout Weghorst to Manchester United, is keen to work with the Dutch striker again. Weghorst is likely to leave Ajax on a free transfer this summer, and the chance of a contract extension is minimal. FC Twente is one of the main clubs interested in signing the 33-year-old, having previously been interested in signing him from Burnley but finding the English club's asking price too high at the time. Benfica and Schalke have also been linked, although it seems that Schalke has since dropped its interest. Weghorst, who joined Ajax in August 2024, has 51 caps and 14 goals for the Netherlands.
