Mainz 05 has loaned William Böving to 1. FC Nürnberg. According to reports, there is no purchase option. William Böving moved to Mainz 05 last summer for 3.5 million euros but has not been convincing so far. In the 2. Bundesliga, the 23-year-old is now intended to gain match practice. Nürnberg's sporting director Joti Chatzialexiou said that the club is happy to have gained an additional option for their offense with William. He stated that Böving comes to them with experience from international competitions and the Bundesliga, but is still at a young, eager age. Chatzialexiou added that he can be used flexibly in offense and can play both up front and as a number ten.

William Bøving is nearing a move from Mainz 05 to 1. FC Nürnberg shortly before the transfer deadline. Bøving had transferred to Mainz a year ago from Sturm Graz for €3.5 million and appeared in just nine Bundesliga matches last season. His contract with Mainz expires on June 30, 2029.
