Widzew Łódź considered signing 27-year-old Serbian winger Veljko Birmančević from Sparta Prague during the winter transfer window but did not proceed with the move. The club conducted a background check in the Czech Republic which suggested the player had a difficult character. After the potential transfer to the Polish club did not happen, Birmančević moved from Sparta Prague to Getafe on a loan deal until June 30, 2026. The Serbian international, who has 13 caps for his country, had scored 5 goals and provided 2 assists in 16 league appearances for Sparta Prague this season. His current market value is €4.50m according to Transfermarkt. In February 2025, Sparta Prague was reportedly asking for €7 million from Beşiktaş, which had offered €4 million. His permanent transfer to Sparta Prague in July 2024 was completed for a fee of €2.3 million.
