Sheffield United and Swansea City held talks with Manchester City regarding a potential loan deal for young centre-back Stephen Mfuni, an England U19 international, after his proposed temporary move to Coventry City had collapsed. Ben Jacobs reported that the two Championship clubs had spoken to Manchester City about the 18-year-old, who also holds DR Congo citizenship. However, Mfuni's transfer to Coventry is now understood to be proceeding, which means Sheffield United and Swansea City are expected to miss out on the defender, who had also drawn interest from Derby County and his former loan club, Watford. His current Transfermarkt market value is €1.50m.
