According to reports, the fee for Armstrong is as much as €2.5 million (£2.16 million). Göztepe are owned by Sport Republic, who also own Southampton. It was understood that Göztepe had been interested in the striker in September 2025. By the time their interest became public, the transfer window had closed, and as a result, Bristol City were reluctant to complete a deal as they would have been unable to sign a replacement. Armstrong is the first player to depart Ashton Gate this summer and the first to depart under the management of Michael Skubala.
