Northern Irish international Shea Charles, 22, is attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs this summer. Crystal Palace has now joined Nottingham Forest in pursuing the Southampton player. According to former Man United chief scout Mick Brown, who spoke to Football Insider, Crystal Palace are monitoring Charles's performances as they look for midfield reinforcements due to concerns that key players could leave. Brown had previously told Football Insider on 7 April that Nottingham Forest are interested in Charles as one of several midfield options they are considering. Nottingham Forest pursued multiple targets in the mid-season window, making bids as high as £25 million for different players, and are expected to spend significantly on a new midfielder. It is reported that with more clubs showing interest, Southampton hope for a situation that will increase his asking price. Mick Brown suggested this competition could allow them to receive twice his value. The midfielder, who has 33 caps for Northern Ireland, joined Southampton in July 2023 from Manchester City U21 for a reported €12.3 million and his contract runs until June 2027. In the 2025/2026 Championship season, he has made 25 appearances, scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists. Reports in April 2026 set Southampton's asking price at £20 million, while his current Transfermarkt market value is €12.00m.
