Seko Fofana Transfer from Rennes to Porto
Ivorian international Seko Fofana has been left out of the Rennes squad for the match against Lorient due to a coach's decision, which could indicate a departure. Both FC Porto and Benfica have made inquiries about a potential loan deal for the 30-year-old midfielder, who has 30 caps and 7 goals for his country. West Ham had also previously inquired a few weeks ago but did not follow up. Fofana is under contract until 2029. He was no longer a regular starter in the autumn and has made 12 appearances and scored one goal in Ligue 1 this season. Fofana sustained a hamstring injury during the November international break. After returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, he made a substitute appearance in stoppage time against Le Havre last weekend. Although the player did not initially plan to move during the transfer window, his immediate future at Rennes is now uncertain. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €8.00m, a decrease from the €20 million fee Rennes paid Al Nassr for his transfer in January 2025.
