Several English clubs, including Brentford, Sunderland, and Burnley, had shown an interest in Sambou Soumano. Soumano is a 25-year-old Senegalese forward for FC Lorient, and his contract is due to expire in the summer. He joined Lorient in January 2022. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €4.00m. It was reported that during the summer 2025 transfer window, Lorient rejected bids of approximately €6 million from both Blackburn Rovers and Swansea City.
