Bristol City are set to challenge QPR's efforts to sign Wigan Athletic's English goalkeeper, Sam Tickle, as both clubs are seeking a new goalkeeper this summer. Bristol City are seeking a replacement after loanee Radek Vitek returned to his parent club, Manchester United. QPR's interest is intensified because Ben Hamer and Paul Nardi are preparing to leave at the expiration of their contracts. Alan Nixon of The Sun had previously reported that QPR were considering a deal for the 24-year-old which could cost around £2 million. However, Football League World reports that Bristol City have now also become interested in signing the player. While sources have not suggested that QPR's position in pursuing the player has weakened, they now face new competition following Michael Skubala's appointment at Ashton Gate, which could complicate their efforts to secure the signing. Tickle joined Wigan in July 2023 and is under contract until 2028; his current market value on Transfermarkt is €1.20m.
