Ross Barkley: Aston Villa Contract Extension
Sources have told Football Insider that Aston Villa are discussing the possibility of triggering the one-year extension clause in English midfielder Ross Barkley’s contract. The midfielder’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the season, but the club holds the option of an extra year and could decide to trigger that in the coming months. As a result, Aston Villa are prepared to prevent any potential exit for Barkley, and could move to retain the 32-year-old for an additional year. He has 33 caps and 6 goals for England and has made 7 appearances in the Premier League this season, scoring 1 goal. The player joined Aston Villa from Luton Town in July 2024 in a deal reportedly worth €5.9M. According to Transfermarkt, he has a current market value of €5.00m. Sheffield United and Leeds United have been recently linked with the player.
