Ross Barkley Transfer from Aston Villa to Leeds United
Ross Barkley, aged 31, has been linked with a potential return to Elland Road ahead of the January window, having previously had a loan spell with the club. The 33-times capped England international, who has scored six goals for his country, has not secured many Premier League minutes this season, managing just 30 minutes of action across three substitute appearances for Aston Villa in which he has no goals or assists. His contract is due to expire next summer, although the club holds an option for an additional year. However, transfer journalist Graeme Bailey insists Barkley is not a target for Leeds. Speaking to Leeds United News, Bailey stated that he believes Barkley is on a significant wage at Aston Villa, where he is considered a good squad player. Bailey also stated that manager Unai Emery wants to retain Barkley as a squad option for the time being, and added that Leeds already has sufficient players in midfield. According to sources, Leeds' priority for the winter window is a striker or an attacking midfielder, if an opportunity becomes available. Barkley joined Aston Villa in July 2024 and has a current market value of €6.00m, according to Transfermarkt.
