Robin Roefs, a 22-year-old Dutch goalkeeper from NEC, impressed last season and is about to transfer to Sunderland for a record fee. The move comes as NEC prepares for his departure, which has prompted the club to consider bringing back former player Jasper Cillessen. Cillessen, who has had stints with Ajax, FC Barcelona, and Valencia, is being eyed for a return to NEC as Roefs makes his way to England. Roefs, who is under contract with NEC until 2028, has a current market value of €4.00m according to Transfermarkt and had also attracted interest from clubs such as Ajax and Feyenoord.
