Reading have reportedly agreed a fee with Swansea to sign 30-year-old defender Ricardo Santos, and talks between the clubs have progressed smoothly. A permanent move is in place, subject to personal terms and a medical. This follows information that emerged last week that Swansea were prepared to let Santos leave in January. The Royals were interested in the player, who was also being pursued by other clubs. It was understood that his former manager Ian Evatt, now at Blackpool, would almost certainly be interested. A fee was expected for the transfer as Santos had signed a two-year deal with Swansea, having joined in July 2025. The Cape Verde international has made one appearance in the Championship this season for the club. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt at €500k.
