Ben Jacobs posted on X that 26-year-old Basel winger Philip Otele is a target for Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Nigerian-born forward is expected to leave the Swiss club during the January transfer window. Basel is reportedly prepared to consider offers of £6m or more after reducing their asking price. Multiple clubs are interested in Otele. Bournemouth and Serie A club Lazio have made enquiries, and Championship club Birmingham is also interested. A transfer for the player to Fulham last summer was close to being completed but did not happen. This season, Otele has four goals and three assists in 19 Super League appearances for the Swiss club, which he joined in July 2025 on a contract until 2028. His market value on Transfermarkt is currently €5.00m. He transferred to Basel from Al Wahda for a reported fee of €3m, having previously joined the UAE club for €3.5m from CFR Cluj in July 2024.
