Nuno Tavares is a 26-year-old Portuguese full-back whom Lazio coach Gattuso considers to be a fundamental player. Tavares had initially indicated he was available to remain with the club for the upcoming season, but is now reconsidering his position. Having already rejected an approach from Besiktas, Tavares is now prepared to evaluate an offer from Porto, a move that would allow him to return to his home country. Lazio's president, Lotito, has set an asking price of 20 million euros and is not expected to lower his demands, especially as the player has a contract for another three years. Porto is expected to make an initial proposal of 15 million euros, including bonuses. There is an existing agreement between Lazio and Arsenal which requires the Italian club to pay the Gunners 35% of any fee they receive for the player. Tavares, who has been capped three times by Portugal, joined Lazio from Arsenal in July 2025 for a reported €5 million. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €12.00m.
