Jurgen Klopp has instructed Real Madrid to sign 23-year-old German goalkeeper Noah Atubolu as part of his plans should he take charge at the Bernabeu. Klopp's potential arrival would see Andriy Lunin leave the club. The German manager believes Atubolu can provide superior backup for Thibaut Courtois and ultimately become the Belgian's long-term successor. Atubolu, who has 22 caps for Germany's U21 team, joined Freiburg in July 2021 and is under contract until June 2027. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €20.00m. Several other clubs, including Brighton & Hove Albion and Eintracht Frankfurt, have also been linked with him. In March 2026, reports suggested a potential transfer could cost around €25 million, while SC Freiburg's asking price was reportedly €30 million in February 2026.
