TYC reports that Maximiliano Gutiérrez has been presented as a new signing for Independiente. The club arranged a one-year loan with Huachipato of Chile that is without charge and includes an obligation to purchase half of the player's rights for two million dollars, to be executed in January 2027. The agreement was confirmed after the club suffered a sanction for failing to pay 1.5 million dollars to Fernando Gaibor. The club signed the Chilean player without paying cash and completed its squad for the first half of the calendar. According to reports, Independiente's lawyers found a method to postpone the FIFA penalty because the claim by the Ecuadorian footballer had been submitted earlier than it should have been. Consequently, Independiente is not listed among the offenders on the FIFA portal and is able to register its new signing.

According to TYC, Maximiliano Gutiérrez from Huachipato will join Independiente. Independiente is now able to complete the transfer after having postponed a FIFA transfer ban that had previously halted the signing due to a payment default. Gutiérrez will arrive on a one-year loan from Huachipato with no loan fee. The agreement includes a mandatory purchase obligation of two million dollars for 50% of his rights, to be paid in four installments of 500,000 dollars from January 2027.

According to TYC, Independiente is attempting to resolve a debt with Fernando Gaibor to register Maxi Gutiérrez. Néstor Grindetti, the president of Independiente, stated that they will seek to resolve the debt. Grindetti said the inhibition is due to an old debt they have been paying, with one installment remaining to be paid to Gaibor. He added that they were working to pay it when the inhibition occurred before the established deadlines. Grindetti stated they will not be able to register Maximiliano Gutiérrez, in whom they were interested. He explained the player could not travel due to a strike and otherwise would have already signed. Grindetti also explained that they will try to resolve the inhibition as soon as possible to allow the registration of the Huachipato footballer. According to the president, Independiente has until June to lift the inhibition.
