Independiente is targeting 34-year-old Argentinian forward Juan Martin Lucero, who currently plays for Universidad de Chile, after requesting an extension from the AFA to negotiate for players. The move is being pursued by coach Gustavo Quinteros, who has given his approval and stated he wants an experienced backup for Gabriel Ávalos. While negotiations are underway, the potential transfer is conditional on the club resolving a new transfer ban from Olimpia. Lucero, who joined his current club in January 2026, has a contract until the end of 2027 and a current Transfermarkt market value of €500k.
