Wrexham could target Matthieu Epolo, a 21-year-old Belgian-Congolese dual national, this summer as a potential smart long-term investment. Epolo is considered one of Europe's most promising young goalkeepers and made 29 appearances for Standard Liège in the Belgian Pro League across the league and play-offs. He finished the season with the second-best save percentage in Belgium's top flight and was ranked ninth for goals prevented, having conceded 35 goals against an expected goals-on-target figure of 38.09. While he is a proficient shot-stopper, his 61.4% passing accuracy is an aspect that could be developed. The young player, who has one senior cap, has been named in DR Congo's World Cup squad, but signing a player without experience in English football would present some risk.
