Mateusz Bogusz Transfer from Cruz Azul to Celtic

The Daily Record reports that Celtic target Mateusz Bogusz has not reported for pre-season training in Mexico and has returned to his home in Poland. Celtic had been previously linked with the playmaker on two occasions: two years ago and during the last winter transfer window. Bogusz had transferred to Cruz Azul in a deal valued at £8 million, and it was reportedly offered to him a contract of £125,000 per week in Mexico. The former Leeds United player has not settled and has lost his position in the team. While Cruz Azul has not made a public comment regarding his non-attendance, it is widely expected he will be fined and sold by the club this month. His market value has decreased considerably since his transfer last year, and he has one year left on his contract.

Mateusz Bogusz was close to joining Celtic in 2024 before signing for Cruz Azul from LAFC in January. Sources in Mexico suggest that the player already wants to leave the Mexican club and that the Hoops still retain an interest in the 24-year-old.

Mateusz Bogusz, a reported target for Celtic, is said to be determined to leave Cruz Azul, a club he joined from LAFC earlier in the year. The 24-year-old Poland international has been an unused substitute in his last three matches. He held transfer talks with the Hoops in the summer of 2024 over a potential £9 million move, before the club signed Arne Engels for £11 million instead. According to reports from North America, Bogusz stormed down the tunnel following his team's Apertura play-off defeat to Tigres on Sunday while his teammates applauded their supporters. Bogusz's contract expires on 31/12/2026, and in the current Liga MX Apertura season he has made 12 appearances, scoring one goal and providing one assist. Chicago Fire and América have also been linked with the player.
