Frank McAvennie, speaking on the 'Let Me Be Frank' podcast, claimed that Martin O'Neill's men tried to re-sign their former goalkeeper Scott Bain over the summer. The approach for the 34-year-old Scottish goalkeeper reportedly came after Kasper Schmeichel's retirement, with Celtic eventually signing Sam Johnstone on loan. McAvennie said that a director at Falkirk told him that Celtic attempted to bring Bain back and tried to make an offer for the player. He specified that this happened a couple of months ago, at the beginning of the season. Bain, who has four caps for Scotland, joined Falkirk FC in July 2025 and is under contract until May 2028. His current Transfermarkt market value is €100.0K.
