The Daily Record reported that Martin Boyle has made a surprising decision to remain at Hibs, after he had initially planned to depart. Boyle was expected to have a farewell on Saturday, following a March announcement that he would be exiting the club this summer. A leaving ceremony for him was held on Friday. However, before their game against Motherwell, Hibs announced that the 33-year-old had agreed to a new 12-month contract. Boyle admits that a conversation with his daughter at bedtime prompted him to reconsider his decision. He explained that after a discussion with his family regarding his appreciation at the club and his remaining ambitions, a question from his daughter about his sadness over leaving Hibs led to his realization that he could not depart from the club. Boyle stated that he loves the club and playing for the team, describing it as an opportunity he values very highly. He and the manager thought announcing the new contract before the game would be a good way to generate excitement among the fans. Boyle added that nobody was aware of the new contract, including his parents, who were travelling from Aberdeen under the impression that it was his farewell.

David Gray confirmed that Martin Boyle will leave Hibernian at the end of the season when his contract expires.
