Independiente is interested in signing Ferencváros's 27-year-old Argentinian footballer, Mariano Gómez. Journalist Matias Martinez initially reported on the interest. Martinez later stated, citing information from the player's entourage, that Independiente had approached Ferencváros with a $1.5 million offer. This amount is reportedly far from what Ferencváros would accept for the defender. His current Transfermarkt market value is €1.50m. It is said that Independiente's search for a defender is because of head coach Gustavo Quinteros's concerns over his defense, particularly with the probable departure of Kevin Lomónaco. Gómez transferred to Ferencváros from FC Zürich in January. He reportedly became a potential signing after other potential signings, such as José Canale and Lautaro Valenti, were deemed too expensive.
