Marcus Edwards stated that a move away was a possibility for him right at the end of the transfer window, describing the scenario as strange and saying it put him in a predicament where he might not have been able to leave. He added that he was luckily put back in and is now just focused on that.

Nicky Hayen has said that he had already informed the players one or two weeks ago that they were looking for players, and that if the players had an option, they could go. Hayen also stated that they would see if Marcus or Mike would fill in that spot, but he had already informed them that there was a possibility they would not make the squad list. It is stated that Marcus Edwards has no future at Burnley and his career will continue away from Turf Moor. The 27-year-old English winger joined Burnley in July 2025 and has a contract until 2029. He has 8 caps for England's U20 team and his current Transfermarkt market value is €6.00m.
