Manuel Akanji Transfer from Manchester City to Milan

Milan has shown interest in acquiring 30-year-old Swiss international Manuel Akanji to strengthen their defense. The club's management, which includes Igli Tare and Giorgio Furlani, is actively working on multiple strategies to enhance the team's overall performance. The decision to reinforce the defense arose from internal discussions at Casa Milan, particularly following recent defensive lapses. Akanji, who is currently with Manchester City, has been identified as a viable option. This pursuit of Akanji is occurring during a busy transfer market period, with Milan also exploring options to reinforce their attack and midfield. The need for a reliable central defender became more urgent after a disappointing loss to Cremonese in their Serie A opener, which exposed weaknesses in their defensive structure. Akanji's contract with Manchester City is valid until June 2027, and Transfermarkt estimates his market value at €28 million. The defender has also attracted interest from other clubs, including Bayer Leverkusen and Galatasaray.
