Lisandro Martínez, a 28-year-old Argentinian defender, could leave Manchester United in the summer because his contract is expiring, although the club has an option for an extension. It is considered doubtful that United will exercise this option due to recent controversies involving the defender. FC Barcelona and Atlético Madrid are monitoring the situation and would likely only pursue the player if he were available on a free transfer. The player, who is a 2022 World Cup winner and has been capped 38 times for his country, scoring 2 goals, is also highly regarded by Italian clubs. Roma, Como 1907, and Inter Mailand have been linked with him. Martínez transferred to Manchester United from Ajax in July 2022 for a fee reported to be €57.4 million. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €45M.
