Barnsley have signed Portsmouth striker Makenzie Kirk in a season-long loan deal.

Mackenzie Kirk, a 22-year-old striker, is set to join League One side Barnsley on a season-long loan from Portsmouth. Kirk, who joined from St. Johnstone last summer, struggled to make an impact in the Championship during his first season. As the final details of his move to Oakwell were being arranged, he was not involved in a pre-season friendly with Woking. The temporary transfer is intended to provide Kirk with an opportunity to play more regularly and further his development, because his game time at Portsmouth was expected to become more limited.
