Luuk Brouwers, a 28-year-old Dutch attacking midfielder, is in discussions with Omonia Nicosia. The Cypriot club submitted an initial offer which was rejected by Heerenveen. Because Brouwers has an ongoing contract, Heerenveen requires a transfer fee. Brouwers has not been playing regularly under trainer Robin Veldman and sees little prospect of increased playing time. He stated that his current role primarily involves sitting on the bench for 90 minutes. Omonia, who were national champions last season and are playing in the Europa League, now have a serious interest. Brouwers has expressed that he has been anticipating an adventure abroad and feels the situation is progressing positively, though he noted a deal is only final when signed. He also indicated that while he has not yet prepared to leave, he might need to begin doing so. Brouwers joined Heerenveen in July 2024, and his contract is set to expire on June 30, 2027. His market value is €1.50m, according to Transfermarkt.
