Luka Modrić Transfer from Real Madrid to Rayo Vallecano
Rayo Vallecano, a prominent Spanish football club, is reportedly interested in acquiring Luka Modrić following the expiration of his contract with Real Madrid this month. As the team has secured a place in the European Conference League for the first time in 24 years, Rayo is eager to strengthen its squad with seasoned players. The club is of the opinion that Modrić, having lived in Madrid for 13 years and being the most decorated player in Real Madrid's history, might prefer to remain in the city where his family is settled. Nonetheless, Rayo Vallecano is unable to match the salary Modrić received at Real Madrid. Club president Martin Presa pointed out that players such as Radamel Falcao have chosen to join Rayo for the chance to reside in Madrid, despite accepting lower pay. Modrić is in search of a new team as he prepares for the upcoming World Cup in Canada, the USA, and Mexico next year. Rayo frequently signs players whose contracts have ended or acquires them on loan from other clubs, as demonstrated by their previous signing of Colombian forward Radamel Falcao in 2021. The sports director, David Cobeno, has refrained from commenting on whether any contact has been initiated with Modrić or his representatives.
