Rangers had also targeted Kwame Poku but he has decided to go to Queen’s Park Rangers. The Ibrox side could have signed him from Peterborough for nothing cross-border. Rangers tabled a big-money deal in excess of £1million-a-year because they didn’t have to pay compensation. Their move was scooped when QPR matched those wages and also agreed to pay Peterborough compensation. The 23-year-old then decided he wanted to move to London to be closer to his family than to head to Scotland.

Kwame Poku has been advised by Peterborough owner Darragh MacAnthony to avoid moving to Europe, expressing concerns that Poku's career might 'disappear' there. MacAnthony highlighted that Poku has been offered a significant move to a top club in England and would stand out there. He urged Poku to make a decision that focuses on his career rather than his agent's interests.

Kwame Poku is out of contract and speaking to 26 clubs, including those in Portugal, Belgium, Germany, and across England. Peterborough director Barry Fry has had offers for Poku, previously asking for £5 million plus add-ons. Fry hopes Poku will stay in England due to higher compensation tribunal values for under 24 players. Transfermarkt currently estimates his market value at 1.50 million euros.
