According to French media, Manchester United rejected loan offers from their sister club Nice for both 20-year-old English midfielder Kobbie Mainoo and Rasmus Hojlund this summer. Ici Azur reported that Nice attempted to take the two players on loan, which prompted United to offer an alternative unnamed player who was subsequently rejected. Mainoo had requested to leave Old Trafford on loan to get regular game time but was required to stay. Nice's sporting director, Florian Maurice, confirmed that he had spoken with Manchester United during the transfer window to try and find solutions, but discovered that the Premier League club's priority was to sell players rather than loan them out. Mainoo's contract with the club runs until 2027, and his market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €50.00m. In addition to the offer from Nice, other clubs such as Real Madrid and Newcastle United have also been linked with the player.
