Port Vale was one of several clubs that explored signing 24-year-old English striker Kion Etete this summer, as it is increasingly likely he will spend another season away from Cardiff City. The manager for the Valiants, John Brady, has admired the player for a long time, but the club instead signed former Cardiff striker Max Watters from Barnsley. Etete joined Cardiff in August 2022 and is under contract until May 2027. According to Transfermarkt, he has a current market value of €750k. Tranmere Rovers and Colchester United have also been linked with the forward.
