Kayne van Oevelen Transfer from FC Volendam to SV Werder Bremen
Werder Bremen is looking for a new number two goalkeeper because their previous backup, Karl Hein, will become the number one after the sale of Mio Backhaus to SC Freiburg. The Bundesliga club has permanently signed Hein from FC Arsenal for three million euros. The club's preferred candidate for the backup role is Florian Kastenmaier, 28, of Fortuna Düsseldorf, and Dutch goalkeeper Kayne van Oevelen from FC Volendam is an alternative. Van Oevelen, who is 22 years old, is under contract in the Netherlands until 2028, would require a transfer fee, and is an option if Kastenmaier declines. Van Oevelen joined Volendam in July 2022 and made 32 appearances in the Eredivisie during the 2025/2026 season. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €2.00m.
