Sporting CP has signed 23-year-old Brazilian goalkeeper Kaique from Palmeiras. The player was presented on Saturday after arriving earlier in the week. He signed a five-season contract valid until 2031. The club paid approximately four million euros for the transfer and set an 80 million euro release clause for him. Kaique replaces João Virgínia, whose move to Wolverhampton was announced by Sporting on Thursday, and will compete with Rui Silva for the starting position. This is a return to Portuguese football for Kaique, who previously had loan spells at Farense and Nacional. Last season at Nacional, he was the goalkeeper who saved the most penalties in the league. Manager Rui Borges revealed that this signing is expected to be the club's final incoming transfer of the summer. The goalkeeper joined Palmeiras in January 2023 and has a current Transfermarkt market value of €2.00m.
