Málaga is negotiating with Espanyol for the loan of Spanish left-back José Salinas, 25, for the upcoming season. Málaga has identified him as a target to reinforce their squad for their return to Primera división. Salinas has a contract with Espanyol until 2028, and his participation was limited to 13 official matches last season due to competition from Carlos Romero. The loan would allow the defender to get more playing time, which he did not find at the Catalan club. Espanyol believes a loan to another top-flight team is the best solution for his development. Salinas is open to the possibility of relaunching his career at Málaga. Cazurreando reports that if the negotiations are successful, he would become Málaga's fourth signing in this summer transfer window, following Fernando Calero, Juan Cruz, and Carlos Dotor. The defender joined Espanyol in July 2025. According to Transfermarkt, he has a current market value of €2.00m.
