Jeremy Sarmiento Transfer from Brighton & Hove Albion to Middlesbrough
Middlesbrough are exploring the possibility of signing Jeremy Sarmiento, a two-time Championship promotion winner, in the January transfer window. Sarmiento is currently on loan at Serie A side Cremonese but has made only seven substitute appearances, and Brighton are likely to recall the winger this month. It is understood that Middlesbrough have been in contact with Brighton over the possibility of signing Sarmiento, with talks ongoing regarding whether the finances are viable for either a permanent transfer or a loan.
Jeremy Sarmiento, a 23-year-old with Ecuadorian and English citizenship, is one of several forward players being considered by Middlesbrough as the club prioritises strengthening its attack in the January transfer window. The versatile Brighton player is currently on loan in Italy with Cremonese, but preliminary discussions have taken place regarding a potential move. It is understood that Boro's recruitment team and Kim Hellberg have a high opinion of the Ecuador international, though a deal is not considered imminent. Sarmiento has not started a single Serie A game in the first half of the season, with his last appearance being in early November. It is highly likely Brighton would approve a move for the second half of the campaign to ensure he receives regular playing time. Reports of Boro's interest emerged after he was left out of the Cremonese squad for a match against Fiorentina, which led to speculation about his future. During the summer, Sarmiento was reportedly wanted by Cruzeiro for a permanent deal, but the winger was said to have expressed a desire to remain in Europe. The winger has 24 caps and 2 goals for Ecuador, and has made 7 appearances without scoring or assisting in Serie A this season. His loan at Cremonese is set to expire on June 30, 2026, while his contract with parent club Brighton runs until June 30, 2027. He has a current Transfermarkt market value of €5.00m.
